PRAYER
Rabbi Shea Harlig, Chabad of Southern Nevada, Las Vegas, Nevada, offered the following prayer:
Almighty God, the Members of this prestigious body, the U.S. Congress, convene here to fulfill one of the seven Noahide commandments: the commandment to govern by just laws which are based in the recognition of You, God, as the sovereign ruler of all people and nations. We the citizens of this blessed country proudly proclaim this recognition and our commitment to justice in our Pledge of Allegiance-- "one Nation under God, with liberty and justice for all.'' Grant us, Almighty God, that those assembled here be aware of Your presence and conduct their deliberations accordingly. Bless them with good health, wisdom, compassion, and good fellowship. On the eve of Passover, the Festival of Freedom, I beseech You, Almighty God, to bless and protect our troops and our entire Nation whom our esteemed spiritual leader, The Lubavitcher Rebbe, labeled "a nation of kindness'' with freedom from terrorism. Indeed "God Bless America.''
Insistence on discontinuity between both Testaments and going beyond former perspectives should not, however, lead to a one-sided spiritualisation. What has already been accomplished in Christ must yet be accomplished in us and in the world. The definitive fulfilment will be at the end with the resurrection of the dead, a new heaven and a new earth. Jewish messianic expectation is not in vain. It can become for us Christians a powerful stimulant to keep alive the eschatological dimension of our faith. Like them, we too live in expectation. The difference is that for us the One who is to come will have the traits of the Jesus who has already come and is already present and active among us.
Here is the letter about the new Government which you have asked me to write you.

The consequence of the absence of any overt documentary evidence of gas chambers at these camps, coupled with the lack of archaeological evidence, means that reliance has to be placed on eye witness and circumstantial evidence. 2
As the German army was pushed back, the places we had called concentration camps were opened up. When the first reports came through, they were not believed. People have long memories for some things. During the First World war there had been atrocities stories of bodies boiled down for glycerine, babies tossed onto bayonets, which were afterwards discredited as mere hate propaganda. But this time there were eye-witness accounts from soldiers and war correspondents who entered the camps and saw what they contained. Delegations of politicians, lawyers, doctors, were sent to verify these reports. I was appointed to such a mission, by the French government. ...
Belsen came first: the furances used for burning corpses were still smoking. To enter the camp area we had to wear gas masks, protective clothing and gloves. Once inside, all we could do was wander among the half dead, murmuring useless words, trying to avoid the eyes of men and women who were not much more than skeletons in rags.
I was shown the files in the administration section, the bills and receipts, neatly typed and rubber stamped, "We beg to acknowledge delivery of your improved gas chambers. We have found them most efficient." 4
Besides obvious foreigners, Bolshevism recruited many adherents from among émigrés, who had spent many years abroad. Some of them had never been to Russia before. They especially numbered a great many Jews. They spoke Russian badly. The nation over which they had seized power was a stranger to them, and besides, they behaved as invaders in a conquered country. Throughout the Revolution generally and Bolshevism in particular the Jews occupied a very influential position. This phenomenon is both curious and complex. But the fact remains that such was the case in the primarily elected Soviet (the famous trio—Lieber, Dahn, Gotz), and all the more so in the second one.
In the Tsarist Government the Jews were excluded from all posts. Schools or Government service were closed to them. In the Soviet Republic all the committees and commissaries were filled with Jews. They often changed their Jewish name for a Russian one—Trotsky-Bronstein, Kamenev-Rozenfeld, Zinoviev-Apfelbaum, Steklov-Nakhamkes, and so on. But such a masquerade deceived no one, while the very pseudonyms of the commissaries only emphasised the international or rather the alien character of Bolshevist rule. This Jewish predominance among Soviet authorities caused the despair of those Russian Jews who, despite the cruel injustice of the Tsarist régime, looked upon Russia as their motherland, who lived the common life of the Russian intelligentsia and refused in common with them all collaboration with the Bolsheviks.

From this short summary it results that the Hebrews have ever been vagrants, or robbers, or slaves, or seditious. They are still vagabonds upon the earth, and abhorred by men, yet affirming that heaven and earth and all mankind were created for them alone. ...
You then ask whether the ancient philosophers and law-givers borrowed from the Jews, or the Jews from them? We must refer the question to Philo; he owns that before the translation of the Septuagint the books of his nation were unknown to strangers. A great people cannot have received their laws and their knowledge from a little people, obscure and enslaved. In the time of Osias, indeed, the Jews had no books; in his reign was accidentally found the only copy of the law then in existence. This people, after their captivity at Babylon, had no other alphabet than the Chaldæan; they were not famed for any art, any manufacture whatsoever; and even in the time of Solomon they were obliged to pay dear for foreign artisans. To say that the Egyptians, the Persians, the Greeks, were instructed by the Jews, were to say that the Romans learned the arts from the people of Brittany. The Jews never were natural philosophers, nor geometricians, nor astronomers. On that day, twelve thousand Jews were murdered in the city cemetery by the order of the Gestapo. In the early morning, the Germans burst into the houses where Jewish families lived and kicked them out to the streets. As Robert’s mother remembered later: “thousands and thousands of people. Sick and young, the very old and babies…” Families with children were put on the trucks, others walked behind. Very soon people began to realize that the road they followed was the road to the cemetery. What were they thinking then? Who can tell now? The enormity of the genocide – mass murder of people just for the reason of their ethnicity – can not be comprehended by normal human beings. Most likely, till the very last moment those men, women, children – did not believe the reality of what was happening. Bertl Geminder remembered: “They took the people all day. The people in the front, who came last, were first to die. When it got dark….We heard that whoever is left can go home… All of a sudden we felt that we were squeezed together. The Germans were holding hands around us, what was left …about 3,000 people were left, and they were squeezing us until one fell on top of the other, like a pyramid. I saw both of the boys falling to the ground… but I could not move a finger out of my position. I was falling to the ground on a heap of people…”
Miraculously, the Geminder family survived that horror. The boys lost consciousness, and their mother could not find them under the bodies. She was forced away by her brother from that awful place and left, almost sure that her mother and two sons were dead. But her boys survived: Robert’s grandmother found them and brought them home and it was, truly, a miracle. The Jews, who lived through the massacre, were locked in the Stanislawow ghetto.
We have seen how completely they (Socialists/Communists/Bolsheviks) have destroyed Russia, so that that once great, wealty Empire, one of the world's greatest granaries, has been reduced through four years of Socialism and Bolshevism to absolute starvation. More people may well die this winter in Russia than perished in the whole four years of the war. This awful catastrophe has been brought about by a gang of professional revolutionaries, mostly Jews, who have seized on the wretched Russian nation in its weakness and in its ignorance, and have applied to it with ferocious logic all those doctrines of Communism which we hear spouted so freely in this country. In Russia they have put them into practice. They have, indeed, turned words into deeds; and they have killed without mercy anyone who opposed them.
