Adolf Hitler with British Foreign Secretary Lord Halifax
(the tall gentleman) in Bavaria on November 19, 1937
Hitler was there to greet Lord Halifix as he arrived by car for this diplomatic
meeting arranged by Ribbentrop, but Lord Halifax mistook the German Fuehrer
for a footman, and started to hand him his hat and coat. Only after German
Foreign Minister Konstantin von Neurath hissed in his ear "Der Fuehrer! Der
Fuehrer!" did Lord Halifax realise the footman was actually Adolf Hitler. 2
At this meeting Hitler, as well as advising Lord Halifax to "shoot Gandhi" he said
"In the event of a general conflict, only one country can win. That country is the Soviet Union." 3
Three days after this meeting, Lord Halifax wrote:
Unless I am wholly deceived, the Germans, speaking generally, from Hitler to the man in the street, do want friendly relations with Great Britain. There are no doubts many who don't: and the leading men may be deliberately throwing dust in our eyes. But I don't think so... 4

Introduction on the Online Version of the Memorial Book
Since December 2007 the Federal Archives have presented their Memorial Book for the victims of the National Socialist Persecution of Jews in Germany on the Internet, not only to make it available to the general public at any time but also to share the ongoing supplements and amendments to the Memorial Book with the general public. The Memorial Book is permanently being updated. The date of the latest update of Memorial Book data (“version”) can be read at the bottom of each page. The directory of names forms the core of the presentation, which enables a target-oriented retrieval for those affected by using a query template which can be adapted to various criteria. Additionally, there is further information on the development of the Memorial Book as well as historic backgrounds of the expulsion of Polish Jews 1938/39, a chronological list of all deportation trains leaving Germany and its bordering countries and a selective bibliography.

Adolph of course would have been getting reports through Canaris and Ghelen over his short career about how much money was being poured into tank production, amongst other military items, by the workers paradise. So he was correct. Everyone else was penniless and Germany ran a peacetime economy until 1942.
