The Germans, a nation of people renown for their efficiency. Not only

ignored the hundreds of thousands of highly efficient carbon-monoxide

producing wood-gas vehicle at their disposal. Nor did they just use their

own inefficient carbon-monoxide producing diesel engined vehicles. They decided to use a diesel engine from a captured Soviet submarine

N N and another from a captured Soviet tank. N N No easy access to spare parts, nor any German instructions for such a complicated engine as found in a submarine.
